THE GHOST OF CAPTAIN WEBB

Born in the Shropshire town of Dawley on January 19th 1848 Captain Webb was the first man to swim the English Channel on 24th August 1875. His fame as a swimmer encompassed the globe and he won a swimming race against the American Champion Paul Boyton. Captain Webb died at the foot of The Horsehoe Falls, Niagara on July 24th 1883 whilst attempting to swim across the swirling water. In September 2004 PsychicWorld.net sent John G. Sutton to view the site where this English Hero met his death.

It was immediately below these falls that Captain Webb commenced his attempt to swim across the whirlpool area at the foot of the falling water.

The ghost of Captain Webb may well haunt The Horseshoe Falls but it is most likely that his spirit rests in peace, content in the knowledge that his achievements in life will live forever.
