TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY

By

John G. Sutton

Above the dark clouds gathered
Sombre was the day
In the distance thunder rumbled
A storm was on its way

Soon the hard rain falling
And noon was black as night
The wild west wind was calling
All living things took fright

The heavens heaved and trembled
Savage lightning tore the sky
I feared of something worse than this
That my mortal soul would die

Faint heart it beat within me
Hope lost 'gainst natures hand
As all around me hurricaned
Seemed death would win the land

But in that time of terror
I heard an angel say
Hold firm my boy and trust in God
Tomorrow is another day

I thought my time was over
But soon the storm was past
The thunder clouds now parted
And sunlight shone at last

How foolish I felt to have shaken
To have dreaded untimely end
And I thought of the voice and its message
The words of my lifelong friend

Now we all face times of trouble
Life's storms bring fear of the fray
But remember the words of the angel
Tomorrow is another day.
