SENSIBLE SHOES

When
Sally was but a little girl
All
sugar, spice, curls on her head
She
listened to her dear mother
Who
gave her a warning and said
“Life
is a long tough journey
Full
of hope, hard work and bad news
But
one thing you need is good feet girl
So
always wear sensible shoes”
Age
seventeen Sally went dancing
Going
out to the local hop
But
she never messed with them high heels
Bought
flat shoes from a cobblers shop
Her
toes they did sparkle and twinkle
With
nails cut all proper and neat
And
over the top of thick Navy socks
She
wore sensible shoes on her feet
She
met a smart lad, Jimmy Mangler
He’d
arms like Wigan pit props
And
in place of hands he’d got ruddy
great hams
With
a grip that made the eyes pop
Now
Jimmy he wasn’t a dancer
But
he’d sup ale for England all night
And
the thing he admired, no matter how tired
Was
a pair of good shoes that fit right
When
Jim got an eyeful of Sally’s
His
heart it jumped over the moon
He
fell on one knee and there he did see
Sally’s
quite sensible shoon
On
the honeymoon night Jim was panting
Stripped
bare he was ready for action
But
when he looked down at bride minus gown
He
saw that she’d got extra traction
“You
just can’t wear them in the bed love!”
Jimmy
was shocked and surprised
For
Sally was wearing her size nines
Just
like her mum had advised
Sally
smiled as she undid her laces
“You
are right and that I’ll agree
But
only if you make a promise
And
keep it forever with me”
Jimmy
swore and said that he would do
He
was anxious his new wife to shackle
But
one thing he sure didn’t fancy
Were
boot prints on his wedding tackle
The
couple they lived ever after
And
Jim to his promise was true
Each
day he shined her footwear
And
at night made Sally glow too!
Now
life is a long tough journey
Full
of hope, hard work and bad news
But
if you would enjoy happiness
Like Sally, wear sensible shoes.
