GRUMBLES AND OTHER PSYCHIC PETS.

JOHN G. SUTTON & GRUMBLES

My British Bulldog Grumbles is not only a true and trusted pal, she is also my very own psychic pet. Whenever I feel ill she comes to my side to protect me. If I am sad she is there snuggling her snotty nose into my knee and looking up at me with her baggy old eyes that seem to say 'cheer up, I'm your friend'. On psychic investigations Grumbles stands guard reacting with hackles raised should a spirit presence appear. I personally have no doubt that my Grumbles, and indeed most other animals, have a sixth sense. In this belief I am not alone, the phenomenon of Psychic Pets is becoming increasingly accepted all around the world. A cursory search of the internet book clubs, such as www.amazon.com will provide evidence that the number of titles dealing with this fascinating subject has grown rapidly since my book 'Psychic Pets' was published in 1997 by Bloomsbury.

Let me give you an example from my book: Shandy The Psychic Labrador. Lesley Ann Wadsworth ran boarding kennels for many years with her family. This is her very eerie story about one of her regular customers. "Over a number of years the Jones family had been boarding Shandy, their pet Labrador, in our kennels while they went away on vacation. The dog was a huge, friendly thing, all golden brown and cuddly. We knew Shandy really well and he seemed to enjoy his stay at our kennels.

"Shandy always slept well at night. He would run around all day playing and in addition he was taken on a long walk, so by evening he was tired out and rested well. Then, on the night before he was due to be picked up, in the early hours, Shandy started to howl. I had never heard the dog make such a terrible racket before. He howled and cried, waking all the other pets up. Like us, they must have wondered what on earth was wrong. I went to see him in his kennel but Shandy would not be comforted. All night he howled and no one got back to sleep.

"The next morning I received a telephone call from a close relative of the Jones family. They said that the dog, Shandy, could not be collected that day because Mr and Mrs Jones, the owners of the pet, had been killed in a car accident on their way home from their holiday. The accident had happened at 3 a.m. - exactly the time that Shandy had started to howl".

The psychic pet theory is that the link between Shandy and her owners had been so strong that when they were killed the pet instantly, telepathically, knew. Some may believe that the spirits of the owners had visited their dog to say a last goodbye as they moved on into the world beyond. Others may argue that this was pure coincidence. However there have, in the past, been scientific tests undertaken to ascertain if animals really do sense when someone or something close to them is killed.

In one horrifying experiment, conducted by Russian scientists, a rabbit was separated from her litter and had her brain wired up to an electronic detecting device. The litter of young rabbits was taken to a submarine that then sailed offshore and submerged. On board the submarine, one by one, the young rabbits were killed. It was noted that the mother rabbit reacted at the exact time each one of her litter died. A truly heartless experiment, but scientific proof that there exists a kind of telepathic link between connected living creatures.

There is a much less drastic way for readers to test their own pet's psychic powers. This test is both harmless and lots of fun for all concerned. :

PSYCHIC PET TEST

HOMECOMING AWARENESS

This test is to help you assess your pet's ability to tune in to you and your movements from a distance. Often you will hear people say of their pet 'he/she always knows when I'm coming home'. Now, using this simple step by step method you can put your own pet to the test. You will need assistance from another member of your family, or a friend. All they have to do is watch your pet and fill in the form. Before you leave home agree the time you will return with your assistant and they are then prepared with the following form and your pet waiting for you to arrive. Then synchronise watches and off you go.

HOMECOMING AWARENESS TEST

If you have a Psychic Pet story that you would like to tell the readers of Psychic World about please jot it down and post to me at the address below. My book Psychic Pets is still available from the internet book clubs and is scheduled for publication in a German translation in early spring of this year. I am currently researching Psychic Pets II and if your stories are really good I would love to consider them for this forthcoming title.
