What is a conspiracy theory? Answer is: A theory or belief that an official explanation of an event or occurrence of import is not true and has been fabricated by the powers that be to obscure the real facts. For example; the most popular conspiracy theory at the moment in the UK is that Lady (Princess) Diana and Dodi Fayed were murdered by person or persons unknown. Apart from conspiracy the theories about Diana’s death there are some that believe she and Dodi did not die in that crash and are in fact alive and living on a remote island. Maybe she’s living with Elvis?
Then we have the Dr. Kelly death that has been investigated by The Hutton Inquiry. This is what one BBC Journalist has said he was told: “A contact of mine, a former MI6 spook, was speaking about the circumstances of Kelly's death. He said he's been taught how to "make anything look like anything" and said that there must have been some kind of struggle at the scene of Kelly's death. He said it was sloppy work that Kelly's body was found with enough pills for an overdose but hadn't ingested them, he said that should have been removed from the scene under normal procedure. He added "You can slit someone's wrists and make it look like suicide easily but it's a lot harder to make someone swallow tablets." America is the home of the really big conspiracy theories. These include the idea that the September 11th World Trade Centre plane crashes were authorised by officials of the U.S.A. Government. The reasoning behind the Sept. 11th theory is that the powers that be wanted an excuse to start their so-called war on terror and give certain individuals chance to cash in by buying cheaply companies ruined by the effect of the World Trade Centre destruction. One interesting fact is that President Bush, when told about the second plane crashing into the WTC in New York, did not instantly leap into action but actually continued with listening to a child telling a story in the nursery that he was visiting. If you were the President of the U.S.A. and someone told you that thousands of your citizens had just been killed by a plane deliberately crashing into a massive skyscraper in the middle of New York would you just sit back, or would you order a national security alert and get your backside into gear?
Part of the Sept. 11th Conspiracy Theory is that the twin towers were deliberately demolished, this is from a feature by Brian Densburgh author of the book ‘They Cast No Shadows’: “According to more than one American major television network, the impact arising from the aircraft crashing into the twin towers, dislodged the brittle fire retardant coating from the tower’s structural steelwork. This allowed the steel floor beams to become exposed to the burning jet fuel, causing them to buckle under the intense heat and separate from their wall attachments. The weight of the collapsing upper floors caused a cascade failure of the lower floors, thus resulting in their total collapse. This explanation is patently false. A perusal of video footage showing the initial collapse of the North Tower, clearly reveals the communications mast located atop the North Tower collapsing vertically downwards. The mast was mounted on top of a central service column which housed the elevators. This central service column in turn was supported on massive box-sectioned columns attached to the bedrock, which were fabricated from steel four inches thick. In order for the communications mast to fall vertically downwards, the steel columns supporting the entire central service column must have been severed, down in the basement area of the structure. Severing the steel columns would have caused the entire central service column to drop, thus rupturing the floor beam attachments and precipitating the collapse of the entire tower. In other words, the twin towers did not collapse due to aircraft impact, but because a highly skilled demolition team severed the steel columns in the basement of each tower.”
There is a belief that there are a small number of interlinked families that effectively control this material world and that they are satanic. It is this group that is thought by some to be responsible for the WTC atrocity and for many other acts of terror. Some reports say that the family of President G.W. Bush are shareholders in companies that are benefiting from the Iraq war, the Afghanistan war and the Sept. 11th horror. Material gains have obviously been made by companies that have been awarded contracts to rebuild Iraq and it is the U.S.A. appointed official that decides which company gets the contract and there is no way that his decision can be challenged. It is a fact that the contract to build a pipeline leading through Afghanistan is with a company called Unocal which has the Bush family as major stockholders. The Bush family also have a substantial shareholding in The Carlye Group which apparently deals in arms and weapons which are bought by the U.S.A. armed forces. In the UK the son of Baroness Margaret Thatcher is/was a representative of arms manufacturers. It seems that the powers that be like to get their noses into the trough one way or another.
The author James Bamford's book on military subterfuge, Body of Secrets, puts the lie to the contention that the government would never manufacture incidents or attack its own people to lead the country to war. In the U.S.A. certain documents have recently come to light that show that in the early 1960’s there was a meeting of military officials known as The Joint Heads Of Staff which contemplated various ways of convincing the public that a war on Cuba was essential. This is what Bamford has to say about that meeting: ‘The meeting was termed Operation Northwoods and the document is a memo that is the result of a brainstorming session on ways to help sell military action in Cuba by fabricating or committing acts of violence and blaming them on Fidel Castro. Among its suggestions: shoot down a plane full of college students, sink an American ship ("casualty lists in U.S. newspapers would cause a helpful wave of national indignation"), or rig astronaut John Glenn's rocket to explode. The Northwoods memo (which is an official document) invites us to rethink what some in the government might be capable of not only in terms of September 11th but also the Kennedy assassination. After all, if spectacular murders of people like John Glenn are conceivable, is it so fantastic to plot the assassination of a sitting president?’ Now that is not a theory, the memo is a fact and it clearly demonstrates that the U.S.A. powers that be are capable of conspiring to kill their own citizens in order to maintain control and gain advantage.
As Spiritualists we know that this material world is but one step on our pathway to paradise. It seems, to me at least, that if one believes even a portion of what the conspiracy theorists put forward then this place we call Earth is in dire need of some spiritual enlightenment.
Another question that requires some kind of answer is that of the production of opium in Afghanistan. The Taliban reduced the production by two thirds when they had control. The UK and USA deemed them to be supporting terrorist groups and invaded the country ousting the Taliban. Subsequently the production of opium returned to its previous heights and beyond:

ORIGINS: A traditional crop for centuries in the mountainous border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the opium trade exploded during the 1980s, when it helped to finance the mujahedin war against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.
BLOWBACK: With heroin laboratories springing up on both sides of the border, gun violence, corruption and drug use has spread in Pakistan, which has some three million heroin addicts.
THE TALIBAN: After the Pakistan-sponsored Taliban swept to power in Afghanistan in 1996, it initially raised money by taxing opium production. But under UN pressure it finally cracked down, reducing the area under cultivation from 91,000 hectares in 1999 to only 8,000 in 2001, when it was ousted in the wake of 9/11 for hosting Osama bin Laden and al-Qa'ida.
EXPLOSION: Opium growing soared as soon as the Taliban fell, rising to 74,000 hectares in 2002. The head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime says it reached over 400,000 hectares last year, producing a record 6,100 tonnes of opium - 92 per cent of the world supply.
HELMAND: Afghanistan's largest province produces 40 per cent of its opium and half the heroin in Britain. The poppy-growing area grew 160 per cent in 2006.
Maybe I am wrong but as far as I know heroin kills more people in the UK in one year than the Taliban did in a decade or so.
