FREE WILL ON EARTH?
John
G. Sutton
Do What Thou
Will Shall Be All Of The Law. So wrote 666 The Great Beast Aleister Crowley at
one time a black magician and Satanist. Crowley was a vile, sex infatuated,
abuser of the weak minded and gullible who fell for his fancy dressed up
mumbo-jumbo, or a fiend incarnate who dealt with demonic forces, depending on
ones viewpoint. However he believed that we could all change our life script by
our own will power and volition. He died in abject poverty by the way, so maybe
he got it all wrong. Certainly his fiendish friends from the dark side didn’t
help him in the end.
Aleister Crowley 666 (1875-1947)
Is there free will on Earth? It was
the psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung who coined the term Synchronicity to
encapsulate the idea that in this world we are sometimes guided along our
pathways by happy chance happenings that act as signposts. But if we accept that
we must also consider that free will is a concept that does not actually stand
many tests. For example how can a clairvoyant 'see' the future and correctly and
accurately describe this IF IT IS NOT PRE-DESTINED? The facts are that many
psychics do 'see' and correctly predict what we believe to be 'future' events.
Now consider this; if we looked at the Earth through a super powerful telescope
from the nearest star and were able to see it clearly we would be viewing our
planet as it was many thousands of years ago as our vision would be through
light waves/particles that were generated in times past, therefore TIME is an
illusion in the respect of our five senses. (See Einstein's Special Theory of
Relativity) Then consider that we are limited by these five senses, taste,
touch, smell, sight and hearing. We actually perceive very little of this
complex universe. OK you may doubt this, but consider that we are now alive in
the year 1900 and I am a reasonable and intelligent friend of yours, you are
trying to convince me that I will soon be able to see what is happening ten
thousand miles away from my own home in the village of Foulridge in Lancashire
AS IT HAPPENS! How would you do
that? In the year 1900 there were practically no motor driven vehicles let alone
satellites so just imagine conceiving of that notion just 100 odd years ago.
Now move on a
little in time and imagine that the year is 1973 and we are watching the ELVIS
Special being beamed 'live' across the world from Hawaii, you are now trying to
explain to me that soon I will be able to do exactly the same and beam myself
into every corner of the world just like Elvis. (You would need to explain
satellite transmissions to personal computers, the Internet etc. all unknown
just a short time ago.) Yet today I can, using a web cam and a PC broadcast
myself speaking as live to wherever you are in this world if you have a
PC linked via a telephone/cable to the net.
OK what has all
this to do with free will; well I believe that soon we will all be able to 'see'
far more than we can today as we again discover our sixth sense. In the USA
there are scientists working on computer aided psychic programmes and it is my
belief that one day in the near future we will have the answer to the questions
that are now obscured and veiled in the obfuscating mists of religion and faith.
The trouble is will that knowledge set us free or imprison us?
Would you want to know that you are part of a galactic programme almost like a
microchip in the greatest computer ever and that your actions are like those of
an automaton? That may seem like utter nonsense. But consider this: have you
ever experienced a sense that you have seen or done something before as you
actually did it, almost as if you were acting out a pre-determined script? We
call this Deja Vu and there is no scientific explanation for it. Yet many
people, myself included, have experienced this weird sensation.
Off course I ‘believe’ in free will, I would like and do want to believe
that it is the being that I call ME that selects what I will wear, where I will
work, who I will marry etc. But that does not mean that I am correct. Could it
not be that I am simply programmed to think that way because if I didn't then my
life would seem to be pointless and I would malfunction?
Now consider this, years ago I went into a nightclub in the city of Bristol and
as I walked up to the doorway a team of bouncers surrounded me. They said I had
been in the club the previous week and had been involved in brawl injuring a
number of them. I had never before even been to Bristol, yet here were four or
five grown men, all seemingly sane, swearing that I had been there and done
whatever. I did not get in that club and they threatened to remove me if I
didn't exit at once. How closely must I have resembled the man that did that
deed, very closely indeed is the answer. The term Doppelganger may be familiar
to those reading these pages, it is German for double-looker. We are all
supposed to have a Doppelganger and if we ever see this being we are thought to
be doomed, according to legend that is. But why would there be two or more of
each of us? Could it be that to protect against malfunctioning parts the
galactic programmer has created many numbers of the same 'person' all programmed
to undertake specific tasks? Perhaps this explains all those Elvis look-alikes
that we see, the very thought has me All Shook Up!
