                                        Professor Abdus Salam

The 1979 Nobel Laureate for Physics: Professor Abdus Salam has been excommunicated by the Islamic priests in Pakistan.

In a letter addressed to Michael Roll of The Campaign for Philosophical Freedom Professor Salam states:

" You will be interested to know that I have officially been excommunicated from Islam by the orthodox priests in Pakistan. However I believe in Allah and in worship---but as something personal and not institutional".

Professor Abdus Salam is the director of the INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR THEORETICAL PHYSICS based in Italy at:

Michael Roll states:

"People think that the Holy Inquisition finished in the 17th century with the persecution of Galileo. Nothing could be further from the truth. Ronald Pearson is getting the same treatment from the British establishment as Professor Salam received in Pakistan.
