OFF THE CUFF

THE JOHN G. SUTTON COLUMN

MY SPIRITUAL QUEST

In the mid 1930's, immediately prior to the outset of World War II, a young woman by the name of Georgina Gladys Bugg attended a number of séance's in her home town of Gosport in the county of Hampshire. It was during one such séance that Presina, one of the spirit communicators, spoke to the circle saying 'I join two soul mates together in pure spiritual love' and placed Georgina's hand into her future husband's Ron who was sitting beside her. The true and sad story of what happened to this couple is told in a book that was recently sent to me titled 'My Spiritual Quest'.

The book tells the story of one woman's search for the truth of eternal life and her determination to tell this truth to the future generations of her family. In writing her autobiographical account of life as a Spiritualist Georgina has succeeded in doing much more than she probably intended. Her story is one that will touch the hearts of all who are fortunate enough to obtain a copy of her book. It is a story that is simply told by a lady whose honesty shines through every page. Let me give you an example of her easy to read style, this extract comes from Georgina's account of a séance she attended with the legendary Helen Duncan:

'The Duncan séance commenced with our hostess Mrs. Shanks giving a sincere prayer, and then we joined together in singing a hymn. As there were no tape recorders in those days singing was needed to raise the vibrations. In a little while Helen Duncan's breathing became heavy, and then we heard a voice saying "Good evening everybody, it gives me great pleasure to be with you again this evening. For those who have not sat with us before, I will show you that through which I am speaking" The curtains parted and out floated a 'mike' not like we have today, but a square box'. Georgina's description of her séance with Helen Duncan continues with some truly fascinating detail:

"One after another spirit forms materialised all very different to each other, and all recognised by the people there. A most wonderful reunion……..Before anything else could be said, the curtains parted and out stepped my dear old Granny, my father's mother, whom I loved very dearly. She was in the house when I was born and helped to bring me up. She was only about 5ft tall and there she stood, and this is what she said. "Hello Ena, Hello Bob, you don't know me but I know you Bob. You just look after my girl'.

The book by Georgina is full of her own personal testimony to the absolute truth of eternal life after physical death. It is written in such a way that the reader is left in no doubt that the author is telling their story as truthfully and as honestly as they can.

The Spiritual Quest that Georgina has undertaken throughout her life has brought her to the undoubted conclusion that we all, no matter what colour, creed or country we may claim as our own, survive the transition that we mistakenly refer to as death. As Doris Stokes once famously said, 'we can't die for the life in us'. Indeed we can't and the sooner the world acknowledges this fact the sooner wars will end and individual greed will vanish. They say there are no pockets in a shroud, but as surely as night follows day we take with us our personalities into the next phase of our life in the world beyond. One thing we do not take is our cheque book, or our imagined property.

'Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try' John Lennon couldn't have been further from the truth. The heaven that awaits us all we create on earth by the way we live our lives. The rich, the powerful, the land-owners will be without their possessions in the etheric land of eternity that awaits us all. There they will be what they truly are. Some will be resplendent in their shimmering spirit robes woven from the goodness and love they used their earthly lives to create. Others will be dressed in rags and tatters as they shuffle forward into the spiritually bankrupt barren land they designed with every greedy lie and vile deed they undertook to gain vain glory whilst alive on earth.

If the real truth could be fully comprehended by all of mankind then theft, murder and other crimes would vanish like the morning mist on a summer day. What the world needs to undertake is not enhancement of the gross national product, but enhanced spiritual understanding of the truth. This is not a religious message but a factual one. There is no such thing as a theologically separated heaven where only those who bend the knee to a certain divinity enter. There is going to be no loud trump of some divine trumpet to be blown announcing 'judgement day'. There is only the natural truth of progression from physical life to spirit life and then onwards and upwards into the glorious infinity that we call God.

Those who read Psychic World may subscribe to various belief systems that teach any number of ways to achieve entry into the kingdom of God. I believe that there are many mansions awaiting us in the world beyond but there is no restriction on entry to that world. It is a door that opens to all that knock. And knock upon it we must, for there is one thing for certain, no one gets out of here physically alive. Not even Walt Disney, with all his millions, could ensure that his cyrogenically stored deep frozen body would come back to life. What a stupid idea that is. But some religions teach that this is so. At a given day, there will come a call and the dead will rise up out of their graves. It would be like that scene from the Michael Jackson video 'Thriller'. And imagine the pong! A few decades of maturing and mouldering in the earth adds nothing to inanimate physical objects, and the clothing would be so out dated you wouldn't want to be seen dead in it!

Don't take my advice. Get yourself a copy of the book 'My Spiritual Quest' written by the 83 year old lady Mrs Georgina Brake. Do you know this dear lady sent me her book free and offers to send me more if I thought of anyone who might benefit from reading it. Well I can think of billions like that. So if you do want to read the true and honest story of Georgina and her wonderful if sometimes sad journey through life then why not write to her at: Mrs Georgina Brake, 205 Bradley Road, Bradley, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
