G. Sutton Inspired by Carl S. Smith
But you’re always in my dream
Suntanned golden, sunflower girl
Forever Jacqueline
Autumn mists the meadows
Darken to umbra shade
Then in my heart I feel you
Here in this earthly glade
Now in the stillness, listen
In the moonlight’s silent gleam
Voices of angels are calling
Forever Jacqueline.
This poem was inspired by Carl S. Smith of Sheffield who told me of his memories about his sisterJacqueline who had passed to spirit. She would, he said, forever be in his heart and that thought brought me the line 'Forever Jacqueline'. His description of Jacqueline is captured in the third line 'suntanned golden, sunflower girl' and that is how she will always be for Jacqueline can never grow old as we that are left grow old. She will always remain as she was in the days of her youth, a golden girl, kissed by the sun, dancing in the moonlight and forever Jacqueline.
