There is a widely held belief that forthcoming events of great importance cast their shadows before them. Those gifted with clairvoyance may see visions of these future occurrences quite clearly. Whilst others simply experience inexplicable psychic phenomena that may, or may not, have a message. I am certain many readers will themselves have experienced some strange occurrence that defies rational explanation and, on reflection, proved to foreshadow a major turning point in their lives. For example, without obvious reason the television switches channels to a programme about a foreign country, then shortly afterwards you, or someone close to you, moves to live there for a while. Perhaps the spirits are using the best methods available to them to pass information to us. These messages are encoded in the paranormal phenomena that they create. Rather like a cryptic crossword from the world beyond. We have to reason out the hidden meaning to get the message.
There are numerous superstitions surrounding seemingly natural events that are said to have hidden meanings. I think of the idea that a Black Cat crossing ones path being fortunate or unfortunate depending on the direction of its movements. Such myths have within them the ancient belief that unseen forces are trying to pass messages to us. To receive this hidden information we need to understand the code. This code is encrypted in the nature of the occurrence. It may be that today most educated people view the concept that ancient superstitions are in any way valid as being ridiculous. However, there may also be many of us that still interpret unusual incidences as being of import. Here is one such incidence that happened to me.
I recently purchased a video film titled 'Groundhog Day' from a Car Boot sale. This film tells of a man, played by Bill Murray, who has to live the same day over and over again, until he gets everything correct. I had seen this film before but enjoyed the idea it illustrated as it touched a chord within my own psyche. So I thought I might watch it again with my dear wife Mary. She's always telling me not to become involved in events as they invariably lead to crazy adventures. Strangely these capers always seem to have the same theme and end in interesting, if sometimes disturbing ways. But, just like the central character in the film, I get up each day and continue to try and get my life right.
So one mid-week evening we sat down to watch 'Groundhog Day' only to find that the entire video film was totally blank. I ran it forward, thinking the beginning might be further along, nothing. I fast forwarded the film to the middle, just wavy lines. I took it right to the end, still nothing. I had bought a dud. So we took it out and replaced it with another pre-recorded video. We actually watched a copy of 'The Producers' by Mel Brooks, this is a wonderfully funny film.
Some days later Mary wanted to record a TV movie 'The Importance of Being Ernest' and asked if I had a blank video tape. There being none to hand I suggested she use the video of 'Groundhog Day' as it was blank. So Mary selotaped over the dinked section which prevents recording over video films, inserted the tape into the player, and ran it back to the beginning. Next she selected the correct TV/Video channel and pressed record and play. She has done this many times before. I myself saw her doing this for the film she wanted and watched as the video recorder was engaged. Thinking no more about it we got on with the tasks of the day.
A few evenings passed and there was nothing much on TV, cooking programmes, house decorators, garden gnome designers on holiday in the Costa del Sol. The usual mixture of sun, sausages and cement. 'Let's watch 'The Importance of Being Ernest' said Mary. So I found the video tape, which still had the professional label on it giving the title 'Groundhog Day'. It also had the sticky tape on which my wife had used to cover the dinked section. Then I popped it into the video recorder/player and rewound it back to the beginning. Pressing play we sat back to watch Oscar Wilde's classic comedy. But it wasn't on. The film that appeared on the screen was, believe it or not, Groundhog Day!
You may imagine our surprise when we saw this. We were both amazed. There seems to be no obvious logical explanation for the strange occurrence of the reappearance of the video film recording of 'Groundhog Day'. It was not there, could not have been there, then it was.
My dear wife believes that this was a kind of coded message from the world beyond. Perhaps my personal 'Groundhog Day' is coming to an end, or, Please No! it is starting all over again. Whatever the cryptic message may be, the incident was certainly very odd. If any Psychic World reader has an insight on this weird and seemingly inexplicable phenomena do write to me.
